About Dasun Shanaka
Dasun Shanaka is a hard-hitting Sri Lankan all-rounder known for finishing innings with powerful strokes and contributing useful overs of right-arm medium pace. Batting in the middle or lower order, he often enters when the team needs quick runs, making his ability to clear the boundary especially valuable in T20 cricket. Shanaka can attack both pace and spin, while his slower balls and changes of length offer another option with the ball. He has represented Sri Lanka across formats and gained significant leadership experience as captain of the national side. One of the strongest moments of his captaincy came when Sri Lanka won the 2022 Asia Cup, overcoming a difficult start to the tournament. His career has included periods of strong form as well as challenges with consistency, but his experience remains useful in high-pressure situations. When confident, Shanaka can influence a match through batting, bowling, leadership, and energetic fielding.
